Gnomemeeting CVS soporta SIP

Tema:

We should be able to release a new GnomeMeeting version (1.2.2) and a preview of GnomeMeeting "Next Generation" (2.00) when I am back. You can watch http://snapshots.seconix.com for snapshot packages and test while I am away. Happy testing and bug hunting!

The SIP version of GnomeMeeting is progressing. We are building daily CVS snapshots of that version, and they are available on http://snapshots.seconix.com. All features required to make GnomeMeeting work with Asterisk have been implemented and tested, including call transfer, call hold, registering to several providers, DTMFs. Asterisk users can start testing GnomeMeeting and report bugs or suggest features.

Esto esta escrito en el blog del lider del proyecto:

GnomeMeeting NG (Next Generation)

I have been coding much on GnomeMeeting 2.00 and on the underlying library, OPAL. The current CVS version already works perfectly with Asterisk, including the most advanced features like Call Transfer, Call Hold, SIP Re-Invite, … Of course, there is still much work to do, but I hope to have a release ready for September.

I have been doing several polls on the mailing list so that users can tell what they do expect and what they don’t. The last poll is about the GUI as I would like to improve it for the second release. I would like to show more the “softphone” aspect of GnomeMeeting, while keeping the UI as most usable as possible. I had thought to create a more skype-like UI, but it doesn’t seem to be very convenient to use, especially if you want to add video and want to keep direct access to the dialpad. In general, tabbed GUI are not a good idea if you often have to change between tabs to reach the part of the UI you want to use.
